We love this walk – have seen some foxes and wallabies there as well. Can nearly always guarantee that you’ll see kangaroos – so great for showing a bunch of overseas guests.

@Shelley: in fact I visit St Kilda usually on the weekdays, never seen Sunday market. Time to change it. And yes, it can be cold in Melbourne in winter.

I got to go to St. Kildas one Sunday afternoon, to the market (kind of like an arts and crafts one) that was near the water. Sadly, I don’t remember the name of the street, but I guess the market is there every Sunday so maybe you’d know where. It was a pretty spot, but unfortunately it was cold and windy when we were there. I guess that’s what I get for visiting in the winter, lol. I’m sure there are tons of people there in the summer, though.

Ahh…well, I was wondering why Batman was more important than say, Spiderman or Superman, to get a street named after him. However, it’s good to know the real meaning behind the name!

Shelley, you deserve a special honour for the very first comment on this blog.
Yes, the batcow is funny and there are more like this in Shepparton, e.g. cow-mermaid, cow-Shrek.
But Melbourne’s Batman is a different story. The person of this name (John Batman) was one of the city’s founders and is famous for the sentence written in the travel diary: “This will be the place for a village”! He wrote it in 1835 and was damn right.
