Cheviot Beach, Point Nepean, Victoria, Australia

On Sunday, 17 of December 1967, the then Prime Minister of Australia, Harold Holt, disappeared while swimming off Cheviot Beach. Despite a massive search his body was never found. The beach itself takes name from another tragedy that happened in 1887. On 19 October the steamer Cheviot was wrecked here while trying to enter Port Phillip Bay and 35 people lost their lives.
