Yes, the batcow is funny and there are more like this in Shepparton, e.g. cow-mermaid, cow-Shrek.
But Melbourne’s Batman is a different story. The person of this name (John Batman) was one of the city’s founders and is famous for the sentence written in the travel diary: “This will be the place for a village”! He wrote it in 1835 and was damn right.
Ahh…well, I was wondering why Batman was more important than say, Spiderman or Superman, to get a street named after him. However, it’s good to know the real meaning behind the name!
